Vita

Siria Guzzo is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the Department of Humanities/DIPSUM, University of Salerno, Italy. She received her bachelor's degree in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Naples in 2001 and then continued her studies to receive her master's degree in Sociolinguistics from the University of Essex in Colchester (UK), in 2004. She then went to the University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy, where she received her PhD in English for Special Purposes in 2008.

Her research interests mainly cover the field of sociolinguistics and language variation and change. She has conducted research and widely published in the fields of migration and its effects on identity, new dialect/ethnolect formation, language contact and its outcomes, and first and second language acquisition. Her publications include wide-ranging investigations on the Anglo-Italian community in the UK, and a forthcoming volume on the newly emerging Cook Island variety of English.
